Our 1st XV & 1881 Management & Coaches
The Ampthill RUFC First XV
Ampthill RUFC’s 1st XV management and coaching team is the driving force behind the club’s Championship campaign, blending professional expertise with a deep understanding of the club’s values. Led by Director of Rugby Mark Lavery and Head Coach Paul Turner, the team includes experienced coaches, performance specialists, and medical staff who work together to prepare the squad at the highest level. From tactical planning and physical conditioning to injury rehabilitation and matchday logistics, every aspect of player development and team performance is carefully managed to ensure the squad is consistently competitive and aligned with the club’s long-term ambitions.
Supporting the pathway to senior rugby, the 1881 (Development XV) is a vital part of Ampthill’s performance structure. Managed by Steve Everitt and coached by former Tonga international Vili Ma’asi, the 1881 side offers a competitive environment for developing players to gain experience, build resilience, and prepare for 1st XV selection. With a clear focus on player progression, the 1881 coaching staff work closely with the senior team to ensure continuity in playing style, standards, and culture. This integrated approach reflects the club’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and building a sustainable future on and off the pitch.
