Ampthill to Australia U18s

Nov 30, 2021

It’s always good to receive reports of ex-Ampthill players….

Tom Pattinson started playing rugby with Ampthill Mini & Youth at the age of 10. He spent seven years at the club, being coached by Hugh Christey, and in his final season with the club, he captained the U16s to two cup finals.

Whilst an Ampthill player, he also played for Bedfordshire with DPP and East Midlands. During the off-season, he played League for the original Bedford Tigers U14s, Ampthill Hornets RLFC, and played senior rugby league for the Bedford Tigers 3rd Team in 2019.

Tom’s family relocated to Melbourne, Australia in 2019.

He started playing for Melbourne Harlequins on the first Saturday after arriving in Australia and went on to play a full season in 2019, and an interrupted season in 2020 during the extended Melbourne lockdown.

During 2020 Tom trialed to play State Rugby for Victoria and was selected to both play and captain the Victoria touring team to Canberra, playing the ACT and NSW State teams.

During the tour, Tom’s play and leadership were recognized and he was selected to represent Australia for the U18 Presidents XV!

Well done Tom! Good luck in the future, and we hope to see you back at Dillingham Park one day!
