The Ampthill RUFC 1881 XV Squad represents the club’s official development side, created to bridge the gap between academy and 1st XV rugby. Named in honour of the club’s founding year, the 1881 team competes at a high level, providing emerging talent, university players, and returning pros with a platform to develop in a competitive, structured environment. Every match is an opportunity to build depth, test systems, and nurture players in line with the senior squad’s expectations — both technically and culturally.
As a core part of the club’s performance pathway, the 1881 XV plays a crucial role in ensuring Ampthill RUFC maintains a strong, sustainable player base.
