Welcome to Ampthill & District Ladies Lionesses
Ampthill Lionesses are a friendly, ambitious, inclusive team who are committed to growing and strengthening the women’s game. Whether you’re an experienced player or new to the game, and 18 years or over, you are most welcome.
We train on Monday and Wednesdays evenings from 7.15pm to 9pm, with floodlight training areas come the winter months. We are a relatively new Senior Ladies Team born from the RFU’s Inner Warrior Programme. We currently play in National Conference 3 – but we are up and coming, and certainly ambitious! Matches are played both home and away, on Sunday afternoon’s primarily but with potential to play on a Friday evening and Saturdays for this coming season onwards.
Experienced Head Coach, Siôn James, an RFU Advanced Coach (formerly known as Level 3) is supported by three additional RFU qualified coaches. Together, they create a fun learning atmosphere and a safe environment to support your rugby aspirations. Players are offered individual development plans, access to our sports psychologist, and will run a series of Women Wellbeing seminars covering topics such as pelvic floor and breast health.
Ampthill Ladies is also the proud home of two of our players who campion women’s rugby through their inspirational podcasts. Chloe delivers the Rugby Voice, bringing real life conversations with women shaping the game. Holly hosts Sisters Who Scrum, tackling, celebrating and empowering female health in rugby.
If that wasn’t enough, we run a series of rugby events throughout the year which includes 7’s tournament tours, fundraising events and the option to buy England Rugby tickets. Away from the pitch socials are organised, often inviting partners and families, to events such as picnics in the park, the coaches annual Christmas quiz, our player awards evening and so much more!
